The long, long winter is almost at its end, and this shawl is here to help usher in the spring. Use whatever colors bring joy into your heart - go rainbow, monochrome, whatever speaks to you! This is a quick, meditative project that will fly off the hook.

Techniques: chain, extended single crochet, extended half-double crochet. Stitch explanations are offered in the pattern.

Yarn: You will need approximately 710 yards of worsted weight yarn to make the Hymn to Iris in the size shown, though it is easy to make smaller or larger. As shown, I used a skein and a half of Harrisville Designs Highland in White, and a skein each of Brooklyn Tweed Tones in the Overtones Vacay, Granita, Zest, Persimmon and Hollyhock (though if you want larger stripes, you will need more than one skein of the largest sections).

Hook: Size I/5.5mm or whatever size gives you a beautiful drape to the fabric

Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker

Final Measurements: 77in (196cm) wingspan by 27in (69cm) deep after blocking, though this is easily altered. The gauge listed is after blocking.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions. Enjoy!
