HEBREWS – By Faith by Bro H
Verse 1 — Definition (Hebrews 11:1–3) faith is the substance of what we hope for The evidence of what’s not seen By it the elders obtained a witness Of what has always been By faith we understand the worlds Were framed by the Word of God What is seen was not made from the visible But by His command and power Verse 2 — Abel & Enoch (Hebrews 11:4–6) By faith Abel offered a better gift And was counted righteous before Through it he still speaks though he is dead His witness remains evermore By faith Enoch was taken away And was not found in his days For before he was taken he pleased Elohiym And walked in the path He gave Chorus By faith they did not see Yet were sure of what was said They endured and did not turn Pressing on to what’s ahead By faith they held the promise Not receiving, yet believed Strangers and pilgrims on the earth Seeking out the promised city Verse 3 — Noah & Abraham (Hebrews 11:7–10) By faith Noah, warned of things unseen Prepared the ark in fear Condemned the world by what he built And walked in the way made clear By faith Abraham obeyed the call To go to a land unknown He dwelt in tents with the heirs of promise Awaiting a city not made by stone Verse 4 — Sarah & the Promise (Hebrews 11:11–16) By faith Sarah received the strength To conceive beyond her years For she judged Him faithful who had promised And overcame her fears These all died not having received But saw the promise from afar Confessed they were strangers and pilgrims here Seeking a country set apart Verse 5 — Moses & Separation (Hebrews 11:24–27) By faith Moses refused to be called The son of Pharaoh’s throne Choosing rather to suffer with his people Than pleasures he had known He counted the reproach of Messiah Greater than Egypt’s gain For he looked to the coming reward And walked though it brought him pain Bridge — Endurance (Hebrews 11:32–38) Time would fail to speak their names Who conquered kingdoms, stood through flames Out of weakness they were made strong Held to the promise through it all Others suffered, would not turn For a better resurrection to come Final Chorus By faith they did not see Yet were sure of what was said They endured and did not turn Pressing on to what’s ahead By faith they held the promise Not receiving, yet believed Strangers and pilgrims on the earth Seeking out the promised city
