Writing Well for People in a Hurry

A Field Guide for Quality Business Writing

Digital Download available for $12

Writing is hard. Grammar and style can be confusing, and though most people aren’t writers by trade, we’re all still expected to produce stellar writing at work. We all want to sound confident and competent in our business communications, but let’s be realistic—how many of us actually have the time to pick up a new specialty like writing?

Luckily, most professionals don’t need a fully fledged specialty in writing to do it well. They just need a few basic rules and a push in the right direction.

Writing Well for People in a Hurry is a short guide to business writing. It simplifies messy rules into tips and tricks that tell you what you need to know, answers your most frequently asked questions, and gives you the basic background needed to feel confident in your writing. This guide will help you figure out just what the heck you’re doing and help you do it with style.

About the Author

My name is Melanie Kiehl. I’m a professional writer, and I’ve helped dozens of business professionals improve their writing skills through tutoring and presentation-style workshops. I’ve noticed that a lot of the people I work with have the same writing questions and pain points as one another.

As someone who both wants to help as many people as possible learn and grow as writers (and someone who gets a little teary-eyed about the magic of learning), I created this guide. It’s based on the techniques and information my in-person students have found helpful and designed to give you a quick and easy path to writing with confidence.

FAQ

Q: How will I get the book?

A: It’s a digital download. You’ll have access to it immediately after paying.

Q: Does writing well really matter?

A: It sure does! There are plenty of people who won’t notice or care about mistakes in your writing, but there are also plenty of people who will. When the people who do care notice issues in your writing, it lowers your credibility in their eyes and makes them less likely to purchase a product or service from you. That cuts out tons of potential clients over easily avoidable mistakes.

Q: Can’t I just use ChatGPT or other AI to write for me?

A: You can, but writing with AI can get pretty dicey. You have to proofread and fact check the writing it gives you and check the content for plagiarism. Plus, most AI writing sounds the same. If you want to stand out among competitors, especially those using AI, an authentic, human voice is the best way to go.

Q: Can’t I just Google all my grammar questions?

A: Sure! But it’ll take you a while. In my experience, when I look up grammar questions on Google, I often end up down a rabbit hole of disagreeing opinions and language theory rather than finding a straightforward answer. Since this guide was designed with business professionals in mind, I quickly and simply address a lot of the grammar or style issues you might usually look up, so you can have the answers right at your fingertips without needing to look up a bunch of other terms just to understand the answer to your original question.

Q: What if I do want in-depth writing help instead of a quick guidebook?

A: I also provide tutoring, presentations, and mentorship! Check out my website or email me for more information.
