PARAMETRIC CYLINDER FACE MILLING CYCLE

Professional Parametric Circular Face Milling From Simple Editable Parameters

Turn repetitive circular and cylindrical facing operations into a compact, reusable parametric CNC cycle.

The Parametric Cylinder Face Milling Cycle provides a flexible solution for machining circular faces using continuous alternating cutting passes with automatically calculated X-axis limits and smooth loop transitions between each facing row.

Define the cylinder diameter. Define the cutter diameter. Define the stepover. Define the Z levels. Run the cycle. Reuse it.

🚀 CUSTOM CANNED CYCLE

The complete cylinder-facing operation is contained inside the reusable custom cycle.

The operator or programmer simply enters the required cylinder diameter, cutter diameter, stepover and Z machining values.

The cycle handles the complete circular facing operation automatically.

No rebuilding the complete facing toolpath for every new cylinder diameter.

No manually calculating the X-axis limits for every Y position.

No manually calculating every facing row.

No manually programming every turnaround loop.

No rebuilding the machining pattern when the cutter diameter changes.

No long repetitive circular facing programs.

Change the required dimensions and reuse the same cycle for the next component.

🔄 PARAMETRIC CIRCULAR FACING STRATEGY

Unlike rectangular facing, a circular face requires the cutting distance to continuously change across the diameter.

The cycle automatically calculates the available cutting width at every Y-axis position.

The facing passes become progressively longer as the cutter approaches the center of the cylinder. After crossing the center, the X-axis travel automatically becomes shorter again toward the opposite outside diameter.

The complete circular geometry is calculated automatically from the entered cylinder diameter.

No manual coordinate calculation is required.

🔵 SMOOTH CONTINUOUS TURNAROUND LOOPS

At the end of each facing row, the cutter transitions smoothly into the next machining pass using calculated circular turnaround movements.

The cycle automatically calculates the loop radius from the actual facing stepover.

The cutter exits smoothly from the completed row, transitions around the outside of the circular face and enters the next facing row automatically.

The turnaround geometry also adapts correctly after the cutter crosses the center of the component.

Smooth exit. Smooth turnaround. Smooth re-entry. Continuous facing.

📐 AUTOMATIC CIRCULAR GEOMETRY CALCULATION

The programmer does not need to calculate individual X-axis positions for the circular surface.

The cycle automatically determines the required cutting distance for every facing row based on:

✅ Cylinder diameter

✅ Cutter diameter

✅ Current Y-axis position

✅ Toolpath edge coverage

✅ Calculated circular machining envelope

As the cutter moves across the component, the X-axis limits automatically adapt to the circular shape.

↕️ AUTOMATIC STEPOVER CONTROL

Enter the required maximum stepover.

The cycle automatically calculates the number of facing intervals required across the complete cylinder diameter and equalizes the spacing automatically.

The turnaround radius is also calculated automatically from the final stepover.

Different cylinder diameter? Enter the new diameter.

Different maximum stepover? Enter the new value.

The complete facing pattern automatically adapts.

⬇️ AUTOMATIC Z-DEPTH PROGRESSION

Define the top face Z position.

Define the required final face Z position.

Define the maximum depth per pass.

The cycle automatically calculates the required number of complete facing levels and ensures the final facing pass finishes exactly at the programmed final depth.

No manually calculating intermediate Z levels.

No rebuilding the facing pattern for every depth.

💡 WHY USE THIS CYCLE?

Circular facing normally requires continuously changing X-axis limits across the diameter of the component.

Different cylinder diameter means different coordinates.

Different cutter diameter changes the machining envelope.

Different stepover changes every facing row.

Different material removal requires additional Z levels.

The Parametric Cylinder Face Milling Cycle handles these calculations automatically.

No manually calculating circular X positions.

No rebuilding the complete facing toolpath.

No manually calculating every Y-axis row.

No manually programming every turnaround movement.

No manually calculating every Z level.

No rewriting long repetitive circular facing programs.

Less repetitive programming. Faster setup. Consistent machining. Reusable CNC automation.
