Heart Failure

Jack arrived at the hospital with pain in his chest, breath shallow, eyes wide with pain. Nurses moved fast, monitoring every beat as his condition spiralled. Then, without warning, his heart gave out. Alarms erupted and Jack slipped into cardiac arrest, his body falling still as the team launched into resuscitation.

Halfway through the fight, Jack’s chest suddenly rose — a gasp, a flicker of life — hope flooding the room. But moments later, before anyone could speak, his pulse vanished again. Jack’s heart fell silent for the second time, leaving nurses battling desperately against the clock, unsure if this time he would return at all.
