HOODOO: Akan Ancestral Religion in North America - Documentary Film
Hoodoo is specifically the Ancestral Religion of Akan (ah-khan’) people from the region of contemporary Ghana and Ivory Coast, West Afuraka/Afuraitkait (Africa), preserved in our spiri-genetic blood-circles for over 300 years in North America to this day. Moreover, Hoodoo as Akan Ancestral Religion is a direct incarnation of our Ancestral Religion of anicent Khanit and Kamit (Nubia and Egypt) preserved unbroken for millennia. Hoodoo is not an amalgamation of various African traditions combined with pseudo-native americanism and/or european pseudo-occultism.
In this documentary film, Odwirafo elucidates the cosmological, linguistic and ritual foundation of Hoodoo from our ancient expressions to the present day. For the first time the various facets of Hoodoo inclusive of the mojo (mogya), jack or jack ball (gya or gyapade), haint (hintin), shout (dwo), conjure (kankye), goofah (komfo) doctor, Hoodoo (ndu), hoodoo doll baby (ndu akuaba), High John the Conqueror (Jama Kakadu/Johnny Conqueroo), rabbit’s foot (adanko) and more are proven to be specifically Akan - in language, cosmology and ritual practice. The major pantheon of Hoodoo Deities, the Ancestral Spirits and more are examined.
We clarify that Hoodoo is exclusive to Black people and demonstrate how when eurasians invaded ancient Kamit (Egypt) thousands of years ago they learned of religion, corrupted what they were exposed to and manufactured the fictional characters jesus, muhammad, allah, yahweh, brahmin, buddha and more. These characters would later be forced upon Afurakani/Afuraitkaitnit (African~Black) people during enslavement and colonization. Our return to our Ancestral Religion is liberation from the chains of pseudo-religion.
