Frost Twist is a beanie that blends the rustic with the luxurious. By knitting with one strand of rustic Icelandic wool held together with one strand of silk-mohair, you create a garment that is both warm and has a magical, frosty luster. The deep cables give the beanie a modern, sculptural shape that feels right at home in the forest as well as the city.
Good to know before you start:
Techniques: The beanie is knitted in the round on circular needles (or double-pointed needles). You will knit (k) and purl (p) stitches, and create cables using a cable needle.
Materials & Info: Yarn: Istex Léttlopi (50 g / 100 m): 2 skeins. Drops Kid-Silk Mohair (25 g / 210 m): 1 skein.
Gauge: Approx. 26 sts = 10 cm measured in pattern (cables) on 5.5 mm needles after blocking.
Needles: Circular needle 4.5 mm (40 cm) for the ribbing. Circular needle 5.5 mm (40 cm) for the cable pattern. Change to double-pointed needles (DPNs) 5.5 mm or use Magic Loop when the stitch count decreases at the crown.
Accessories: A cable needle, a tapestry needle to weave in ends, and stitch markers to keep track of the beginning of the round and to separate the pattern repeats in the chart.
