Centaurea scabiosa is a species of perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to Europe and has purple flowers on an almost spherical cap. The leaves that come out of the lower part of the stem are pinnatisectes or pinnatipartidas the plant is 20 to 150 cm tall and blooms from June to August. Pappus are 3 to 5 mm. In the Catalan Countries, it is found in dry pastures and cereal fields in the mountainous region and regions of the northern Mediterranean, mainly those subject to continental climates. It is a honey plant. In folk medicine it was used as a vulnerary (against blows) and emollient. This plant can be confused with Succisa pratensis, but in the gratabous the leaves are arranged alternately and in S. pratensis they are alternately arranged.

I have modified the colors to focus attention on the protagonist flowers, away from the rest. The green tone of the background has been chosen to give freshness to the whole.
