'One sixty six' (Grade 4 Eb saxophone Trinity College London standard woodwind syllabus from November 2022 onwards) is the ninth piece in a delightful collection of fourteen 'scenes' that unfold around the Parisian cafe. The rain shower has now subsided and the viewer (from the café) observes the merriment outside of youngsters (and maybe the young at heart also!) splashing around in the resulting puddles: the delight of such is clearly evident in the piece's style and mood.

The compositions in the full sheet music book (Scenes from a Parisian Café) are invaluable for helping to improve expression, tone quality, and intonation, so are a great addition to both student and teacher's repertoire lists. The scenes vary from hauntingly beautiful long noted melodies (great for tone and intonation practice) through to film-like, Jazz (the cabaret singer makes an appearance), the carnival and marching band (and all the frolics and delights they bring with them) and many more.
