Convergence & Accommodation Strips (Cut-and-Fold Visual Training Tool)
This simple, cut-and-fold PDF creates three convergence strips designed to specifically train the oculomotor and accommodative systems. Once cut, a small triangular slot is removed at the base to rest comfortably over the nose, allowing the strip to align precisely with the visual midline .
The individual holds the strip and begins by focusing on the furthest dot, then slowly shifts focus one dot at a time toward the nose, until double vision occurs (the dot in focus is no longer singular). This graded visual demand drives eye convergence, lens accommodation, and binocular coordination.
The tool is highly adaptable, allowing progression from basic to advanced drills across distances ranging from approximately 30 cm to as close as 1 cm. As task difficulty increases, the visual system is challenged to maintain clarity, alignment, and control under increasing load—stimulating targeted adaptation within the visual cortex, brainstem oculomotor nuclei, and associated cortical networks.
This makes the convergence strips an effective, low-tech tool for rebuilding visual endurance, precision, and efficiency in neuro-rehabilitation and performance contexts.
