Programmed guitar MIDI across 10 styles. 250 guitar patterns, 25 per style. 64 to 220 BPM. 8 tunings, 6-string and 7-string.

PROGRAMMED, NOT PERFORMED

Every note was written in code. These are not recordings of a guitarist. Timing is on the grid. There are no pitch bends, vibrato or slides in the files; add your own articulation. Parts were written to be playable: fretted notes in a phrase stay within 5 frets, 16th notes only up to 200 BPM, sextuplets only up to 160 BPM, and no part goes over 16 notes per second.

PER STYLE (25 patterns)

- 4 leads and 3 solo phrases

- 3 twin-harmony lines: two guitar parts on channels 1 and 2, in diatonic thirds and sixths with contrary-motion phrases

- 3 melodic riffs over an open-string pedal

- 3 arpeggio or sweep figures and 2 tapping figures

- 1 full solo (16 or 24 or 32 bars) with section markers

- 2 clean or ambient passages and 1 chord progression with voiced chords

- 2 hooks and 1 melodic breakdown

WHAT'S INCLUDED (250 MIDI files)

- 250 MIDI files, one pattern per file (30 of them with two guitar parts)

- File names show the style, part type, number, key, BPM, tuning, the time signature when it isn't 4/4, and the length in bars

- Keys, scales and key signatures per file: 26 keys, including harmonic minor, Phrygian dominant, Dorian and Lydian

- Real time-signature events in every file, including odd meters in the progressive files (5/4, 7/8, 9/8, 11/8, 13/16, 15/16, 7/4) and a mixed-meter full solo

- Composition spec (SCORE.json, optional) with a string and fret for every note; not needed to use the MIDI

- Pattern index, tuning list, quick-start guide in English and French, checksums, licence (English and French)

- 38 files need a 7-string guitar instrument (or transposing). No note is above fret 24 in its tuning

REQUIREMENTS

- A DAW or MIDI player and a guitar instrument (a guitar sampler or any MIDI guitar sound)

- Not tested with specific DAWs or operating systems

FORMAT

Standard MIDI files, format 1, 960 PPQ. Guitar 1 on channel 1, Guitar 2 on channel 2 in the twin-harmony files. Tempo is stored in quarter notes per minute, including the 6/8, 12/8 and odd-meter files.
