Black English navigator Issac Resonne and jewelry designer Penelope Francis have loved each other since childhood. Betrothed yet not married according to English church laws, the couple find their love tested by Issac’s capture and captivity during the 1588 conflict between England and Spain

When Penelope’s protective father declares she’s grieved long enough an arranges a marriage, Penelope wages a secret campaign to thwart her father’s will. As suitors are rejected, her father’s patience grows and thin. A Christmas Eve wedding is planned and she fears all is lost.
