This is an historically inspired Sontag.

The instructions are given for the size listed, but as with historical garments and accessories, this pattern is more of a recipe.

This pattern includes guideline charts to help with extending the patterning over shaping. The entire Sontag is not charted and you will need to be able to extend established patterning over shaping.

Plötulopi – Unspun Icelandic by Ístex; DK / 8 ply; 100% Icelandic; 328yds (300m) / 100g OR Simply Wool Worsted by Knit Picks; Worsted; 100% Wool; 218yds (200m) / 100g

colour A (Wendy) - 285 - 385 g; 622 - 840 yds (570 - 770 m); 3 - 4 balls

colour B (Wallace or Winnie) - 78 - 100 g; 170 - 218 yds (156 - 200 m); 1 ball

needles:

4.0mm (us no 6) circular or straight

gauge: 8 sts x 8 rows = 2in/5cm

measured over Basket patterning

approximate finished size:

Worked as suggested, this will fit a chest of approximately 38 - 44 in / 96.5 - 112 cm; easily adjusted to fit; this garment is worn with negative - 0 ease; 385g of yarn from above should create a garment with chest at least up to 55in / 140cm

additional tools:

needle to weave in ends, removeable st marker, large button 22 - 24mm
