Kitson Contract Explainer (Kitson Pro app)

Understand a contract or lease before you sign it. Add the document, say which side you are on, and get a plain-language walk-through: what you are agreeing to, the dates and money that matter, the terms that look unusual, and the questions to ask before you sign.

Check these three things before you buy: (1) a computer with Windows, Mac or Linux and free Node.js 18 or newer; (2) your own Anthropic account and key, which a Claude chat subscription does not include; (3) you're happy to pay Anthropic for each run, on top of the app price (about 10 to 13 cents a run in our own tests on short samples; longer documents cost more).

WHAT MAKES IT A PRO APP

• Guided questions and a built-in sample, so you never face a blank box
• A finished document you can download as a Word file or print
• "Why I suggested this" and "Check these yourself" on every finished document
• When it quotes your document, the app checks the wording and marks any quote it cannot find (pasted text and Word files; it cannot search PDFs)
• The cost shown before each run and after it, and a limit you set for one run
• A "change this" box to revise the result without starting again (each change is charged as another run)

WHAT YOU NEED (PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING)

• Windows, Mac or Linux, and free Node.js 18 or newer
• Your own Anthropic account and key (platform.claude.com). This is separate from a Claude chat subscription, which does not include it.
• You pay Anthropic for what you use, on top of the price of the app. In our own tests on short sample documents, a run of this app cost about 10 cents to 13 cents. Longer documents cost more.
• Anthropic credit is bought in advance. Anthropic says it cannot be refunded and expires after a year, so buy a little at a time.
• About ten minutes of setup. A step-by-step guide is included.

HONEST LIMITS

It explains what the document says. It cannot tell you whether a term is legal, fair or enforceable where you live: that is a question for a lawyer or an advice service.

PRIVACY

What you type, paste or upload is sent to Anthropic to be processed, under Anthropic's terms. It is not sent to us. This is not an offline app. Do not put in anything you are not allowed to share. Your key is stored only on your computer and is sent only to Anthropic.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

The app (a zip file), start files for Windows, Mac and Linux, a setup guide and a README. It uses Claude Opus 5.5. You can switch to Claude Sonnet 5.5 in Settings: its prices are half of Opus's (we did most of our testing with Opus). Kitson Workshop is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.
