Commissioned by St. Mary’s in Lowertown, Saint Paul, Sedebit Dominus is a chant-inspired work for TTB choir and organ that bridges the ancient and the contemporary. A modified plainsong melody anchors the piece, while clear textures and a compelling aleatoric conclusion give it modern expressive force. The music reflects the text’s themes of divine authority and blessing with both restraint and imagination. Designed to be accessible for choirs with limited rehearsal time, it’s a powerful choice for Epiphany, Christ the King, or any liturgy centered on peace and sovereignty.

Sedebit Dominus Rex in æternum:

Dominus benedicet populo suo in pace.

Translation:

The Lord will sit as King forever:

The Lord shall bless his people in peace.
