This Easter Basket Directed Drawing Art Lesson guides students step by step through drawing a festive Easter basket filled with decorated eggs, then painting it with watercolor. It is a cheerful spring art project for elementary classrooms, homeschool art lessons and seasonal Easter activities.

Students build a woven basket from simple shapes and lines, add eggs with their own patterns, outline in black marker and paint colorful watercolor backgrounds. Because students choose their own egg patterns, color palettes and painting styles, every basket turns out different, and the finished pieces make a bright spring bulletin board.

HOW TO USE IT

Students follow the directed drawing guide to build the basket with simple shapes and curved lines, then add eggs and decorate each one. They outline the drawing in black marker, paint the background and basket with watercolor, and add extra details, patterns or shading once the paint is dry.

Along the way they practice guided drawing, shape, pattern and composition, and watercolor painting. Common supplies work well: pencils and erasers, black felt markers or fine liners, watercolor paints, brushes and water cups, colored pencils or pencil crayons, and cardstock or watercolor paper. You can adapt the materials to what you have.
