The SEND School Map
The SEND School Map
A clearer way to see who’s who and what’s possible.
When your child has additional needs, it can feel like you’re expected to understand a whole extra school system on your own. Acronyms, job titles, plans, meetings, “pathways” – and somehow you’re meant to keep track of it all while still getting everyone out the door in the morning.
The SEND School Map is a practical, visual tool to help you make sense of support for your child in school, and to feel less alone and less lost in the process.
Inside you’ll find:
- A simple framework for mapping the adults around your child – who does what, how to contact them, and when to involve them.
- Space to record key information (diagnoses, assessments, plans, strengths, challenges) in one place, so you’re not digging through emails before every meeting.
- Gentle prompts to help you prepare for conversations with school, including what you most want them to understand about your child.
- Questions you can ask in meetings to move things forward, rather than leaving thinking “I wish I’d said…”.
- Support for noticing what is working – however small – as well as what’s missing, so you can advocate from a grounded, balanced place.
- Flexibility to use whether your child has a diagnosis or not, whether you’re at the very start of the process or years in.
The SEND School Map is for you if:
- You feel like you’re constantly repeating yourself to new staff.
- You’re not sure who to contact about what, or how often you’re “allowed” to ask.
- You worry important details are being missed or forgotten.
- You want something concrete in front of you when you’re tired, emotional or overwhelmed by the system.
You don’t have to hold everything in your head. A clear map makes it easier to see where you are, who’s with you, and what the next small step might be.
Real support for the hard days.
