Continental' was intended as a concept album. It all began by listening to an interview with Jean-Michel Jarre, in which he stated that electronic music was a properly European continental product. His idea was that this genre of music comes from countries like France and Germany and the traditional music of these places. According to this theory, music depends a lot on the history and idiosyncrasy of each region, and so much so that, according to JMJ, this is also why German and French electronics sound very different from each other. Regardless of the scope to this hypothesis, I was inspired to explore regional soundscapes. So my idea was to make a theme based in France, another one in Germany, etc. Another inspiration element was to pay tribute to my favorite electronic artists from the 70s: the aforementioned Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Vangelis and Tomita, among others.
