This is a symmetrical triangular shawl knitted from the top down. It uses panels of garter stitch interspersed with highlights of slip stitches and an elaborate mosaic panel. The blue border ends with a contrasting i-cord bind off.

Yarn choice: When choosing your colours, it is VERY important to have a good contrast (light vs dark in very different colours) between the MC and CC. Resist the temptation to buy two yarns that complement each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be quickly lost.

Written vs Charts: Due to the nature of the mosaic pattern the repeats in the written instructions have been simplified and so do not match those shown on the chart, so I recommend working either from written or chart instructions, but not both.

You will need:
Recommended yarn: Malabrigo Mechita: Sock weight yarn
MC: (Dark Blue): 160 g, 600 m / 656 yds sock weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Mechita - Paris Night.
CC: (Natural): 75 g, 288 m / 315 yds sock weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Mechita - Natural

Needles and notions:
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles minimum 32” (80 cm) or size required to obtain gauge (main needles).
4.0 mm (US 6) needles or 0.5 mm larger than main needles.
Stitch markers (optional) 4 for marking the increases plus 34 for marking the repeats if using chart.
Clipping stitch marker. Tapestry needle to sew in ends.

Gauge:
22 sts and 42 rows to 4” in both garter st, and mosaic pattern after blocking.
Gauge is not too critical for this shawl although a different gauge
will affect the size and yarn requirements.
