How to use the book

Read one illustrated story page together, then use the following grown-up page to understand the musical idea and answer questions confidently.

There is no need to complete an entire chapter at once. Read, talk, clap, sing or play one activity at a time and return whenever your child is ready.

Some activities may benefit from support from a music teacher.

Important: How to unzip your download

This product is supplied as a ZIP file containing several separate resources. The ZIP must be extracted before you use the files.

On an Android phone or tablet

1. Open the Files or My Files app.

2. Find the downloaded ZIP in your Downloads folder.

3. Tap the ZIP file.

4. Select Extract or Unzip.

5. Open the new extracted folder.

6. Tap the PDF to begin.

On an iPhone or iPad

1. Open the Files app.

2. Select Downloads.

3. Tap the downloaded ZIP file once.

4. A new folder will appear automatically.

5. Open that folder and select the PDF.

On Windows

1. Open your Downloads folder.

2. Right-click the ZIP file.

3. Select Extract All.

4. Choose a destination and select Extract.

5. Open the extracted folder and double-click the PDF.

On a Mac

1. Open your Downloads folder.

2. Double-click the ZIP file.

3. macOS will create an extracted folder automatically.

4. Open the folder and select the PDF.

Do not try to use the files while they are still inside the ZIP. Extract the complete folder first so that every resource remains together.

Opening the offline digital companion

After extracting the ZIP:

1. Open the extracted folder.

2. Select Hen_and_Beas_Grade_1_Digital_Companion.html.

3. Choose your normal web browser if your device asks which app to use.

The companion opens locally in your browser. No installation is required.

Printing

The book is designed in full-colour A4 portrait format. For best results, print at Actual Size or 100% scale. You can print the complete book or select individual activity and manuscript pages.
