A short relaxation exercise to settle your thoughts.


This exercise helps you to practice observing the flow of your thoughts, by placing them as they pop up onto clouds in the sky as they float by, without getting pulled into them. Simply watch them come and go. It's not about getting rid of thoughts (that's impossible) it's about noticing them and letting them pass.


First, sit up straight in a chair, let your shoulders drop, lengthen your spine, and allow your breath to be slow and natural. Either close your eyes or gently fix them on a spot in front of you. Be curious...


It's best not to use this exercise in the middle of a meeting or social event, but the more you practice it, the easier it becomes.
