🗄️ Database
The project uses SQLite, a lightweight database that does not require a separate database server.
The application initializes the database and required tables through its database connection code.
The main database tables are:
- Customers – Stores customer details such as name, age, gender, mobile number and email.
- Policies – Stores insurance policy names, premiums, coverage amounts and policy duration.
- Customer_Policies – Stores insurance policy assignments made to customers.
- Payments – Stores premium payment records, payment dates and payment frequency.
- Claims – Stores insurance claim amounts, reasons, dates and claim status.
🛡️ Insurance Management Modules
The application provides a simple interface for managing basic insurance-related records.
Customer Management
Add, view, update and delete customer information with input validation.
Policy Management
View available insurance policies, including premium amounts, coverage and policy duration.
Assign Policy
Select a registered customer and assign an available insurance policy.
Premium Payment
Select an assigned policy, choose a payment frequency and calculate the corresponding installment amount.
Claims Management
Submit claim requests by selecting an assigned policy, entering the claim amount and selecting a claim reason. The system validates the claim amount against the policy coverage.
New claims receive Pending status and can subsequently be marked Approved or Rejected.
Database Viewer
View records stored in the application's database tables.
💰 Premium Payment Example
The application demonstrates a simplified premium installment calculation based on the selected payment frequency.
Example:
Annual Policy Premium: ₹12,000
- Monthly: ₹1,000
- Quarterly: ₹3,000
- Half-yearly: ₹6,000
- Yearly: ₹12,000
These amounts illustrate the application's basic calculation logic. Actual insurance premiums, installment terms and charges depend on the insurer and policy conditions.

⚠️ Important
This is a desktop-based Java application developed for educational and academic purposes.
The project uses Java 17, Swing, JDBC and SQLite. The SQLite JDBC Driver must be configured correctly before running the application.
This project demonstrates basic insurance record management, policy assignments, premium installment calculations and claim status management.
It is not a real insurance platform and does not include production-grade security, real insurance company integration, online premium payment processing or automated claim settlement. Claim approval and rejection are basic application-level status operations. Do not use this application to manage real insurance policies, payments or claims.
