On the 23rd of September this year, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a report to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit. The report had one unified message: Climate change has accelerated. All around the world, these last five years has definitely been experienced extreme changes in weather which involved an increase in the frequency and intensity of typhoons globally, as well as the emergence of unusual weather disturbances in numerous areas.
Aside from these, the aforementioned climate report outlined other clear indicators of the acceleration of such as the significant rise of sea levels worldwide, greenhouse gases and the alarming rate of loss of the ice sheets. WMO Secretary-General Petteri Talas emphasized that the level of ambition towards halting the increase in global temperature must not only be tripled, but by multiplied by five.
