You Are Still Yourself — A Free 4-Week Devotional for the Charlotte Mason Mama
Module 1: You Are Still Yourself
Someone asked you what you enjoy — and it took you a moment to find the answer.
Not because it was complicated. Because somewhere between the read-alouds and the nature walks and the lesson planning and the living, you forgot to keep track of the person who is doing all of it.
This devotional is for her.
You Are Still Yourself is the first module of The CM Mama's Devotional Year — a four-week Scripture-based devotional written specifically for Charlotte Mason homeschool mothers. Each week follows a gentle arc:
✦ Week 1 — Remember: Who were you before you became "just mom"?
✦ Week 2 — Receive: Permission, rest, and the theology of being replenished
✦ Week 3 — Reach: Small, real acts of Mother Culture — tending what wants to grow in you
✦ Week 4 — Rest in Becoming: Peace with the process, and the God who will complete it
Each devotion includes:
— A real opening moment she'll recognize
— A Scripture passage (ESV)
— A Charlotte Mason or Parents' Review quote, properly cited from primary sources
— A 3–10 minute reflection
— One question to carry through the day
— A closing prayer
Monday–Thursday are short devotions (3–5 minutes). Friday is a longer, slower piece (8–10 minutes). Saturday and Sunday are reading plan days only — passage and prompt, no pressure.
This module draws from Charlotte Mason's own writings — her six-volume Home Education Series, the original "Mother Culture" essay from The Parents' Review (Vol. 3, 1892), and her Scale How Meditations — woven together with Scripture that has held women like us for centuries.
You do not have to have Charlotte Mason figured out to begin here. You only have to be a mother who is tired enough to need this — and ready enough to receive it.
