Consortium: New Music for Saxophone Ensemble
Saxophone Ensembles are invited to join a consortium for a new work for Saxophone Ensemble written by Robin McLaughlin Conine and lead by Joshua Heaney and the Oklahoma City University Saxophone Studio.
Wit and Flow is an exploration of motion, time, and tropes as inspired by some favorite storytelling elements from screenwriter Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing.
Fast Facts:
- Two movements, each about 5 minutes long: 1. Walk and Talk and 2. "What Kind of Day Has it Been?"
- Instrumentation: SSAATTBB (with an optional Bass Sax part that can replace or double Baritone 2)
- Buy-in: $80
- Sign up window: August 10th to September 10th, 2025
Consortium Members will receive delivery of score and parts for new work on January 7th, 2026. In addition, groups who join will receive their names listed in the score, and will get one-year exclusivity to perform the work through December 2026.
Presented in two movements, saxophone ensembles are welcomed to flexibly program the work in a way that works for their group: the first movement (“Walk and Talk”) can exist as a stand-alone work, or ensembles can program both movements.
