In 1996, after American college student Beth Schmidt buys a British World War II vintage bomber jacket, the pungent smell of fuel, the taste of metal, and snatches of cockpit dialogue invade her dreams and compel her to enroll for a semester in Scotland as an excuse to search for traces of the pilot with a highland brogue and before long, the veil between past and present becomes ever thinner.

Author Bio:

K.M. King has been passionate about reading since the day she got off the school bus and walked into her first-grade classroom in a small town in south-central Pennsylvania. When she got a small, pink diary with a tiny gold lock and key several years later, she discovered her second passion–writing. The habit of recording the events of the day and later, in junior high, the possibility of inventing stories of her own, ignited a love of words, writing, journaling and creative imagination that has never diminished.

Her journey to become a published author has taken her through stints as a member of the Third Armored Division, United States Army in Frankfurt Germany; a legal secretary in her county’s largest law firm; a freelance journalist and editor for her community newspaper; and a junior high school English and history teacher. She then worked as a community educator and training director for the local Office of Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention until she left her job to begin her own business, The Power of Possibilities, offering individual coaching, staff development, management training, and personal growth workshops.

During all those years, as she and her husband, Dana raised two children, she began writing short stories, poetry, three self-development workbooks and seven novels. She was encouraged to keep writing by a first, second and honorable mention from her local Public Television regional magazine short story writing contest and a Keystone Press Award for a feature article, as well as national awards for annual reports and publications in the disabilities field.

Her novel, The Bomber Jacket, began germinating in her mind when she and her husband visited Drem Aerodrome near Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2004 and then crystalized when they took their oldest granddaughter, Zoe, to Scotland in 2011.

In addition to time spent writing, she attends two book clubs, including one focused on Jane Austen, belongs to a monthly scrabble meet-up group, takes abstract art lessons, hangs out with her four sisters, takes “magical mystery tours” with her close friends, thoroughly enjoys K-dramas and is an avid K-Pop fan girl.
