You can also create a summer kerchief from this pattern by completing just one repeat of the fillet and lace sections using fingering weight yarn. 

You will begin by working from the middle of the upper edge of the shawl (the side that touches the neck). From there, the shawl expands downward and outward, crocheted in rows that alternate between right (odd rows) and wrong (even rows) sides.
