The story of the Black birds is a very sad one, and through the years the truth of this brutality has been challenged.
Over the many years for the history of the Black American, the stories of brutality has long been denied or hidden for the protection of white guilt.
Here is the story I know.
In the swamp lands of Florida from 1900-1928 white men would kidnap young children and babies, tie a rope around their necks and stomachs and use them as alligator bait.
In some instances the child was able to get away and would climb up a tree.
This poster was created in 1902 by W. F. Bell to mock the children running for their lives.
Blacks in these areas were then referred to as "gaiter bait" a slogan that has since been removed from the FL Gaiter teams slogan and chants.
Never Forget.
This is a high definition digital download, the original size is 11"x14" and can be printed to over four times its scale. There will be no pixelation the larger you go there will just be a softness if you were to print it the size of wall covering.
