Lesson 10 - Understanding the Words: Learning to Study God's Word for Yourself

What should we do when one unfamiliar word stands between us and understanding a passage?

Lesson 10 teaches students how to investigate important or unfamiliar words without allowing word study to become a distraction. Students learn to begin with context and then use appropriate study tools when additional help is needed.

In this lesson, students will:

• Identify words that genuinely need investigation
• Use surrounding context to help determine meaning
• Recognize when a dictionary or other study tool may be helpful
• Practice bringing what they learn back into the passage as a whole
