Eight calculators for the questions a net worth figure raises once you have one. Overwrite the blue cells with your own numbers; everything else follows. Start with sheet 1, then sheet 8: on the worked example the house is 45% of net worth, so whether you count it moves the answer by $115,000. Every formula in this workbook was recalculated and checked against an independent implementation before it shipped; see the Verification sheet.

What is in it

8 calculators, one per sheet. Overwrite the blue cells with your own numbers and everything else follows — nothing is locked, there are no macros, and it opens in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.

  • Net worth snapshot — What do you own, what do you owe, and what is the difference?
  • Liquid vs illiquid — How much of your net worth could you actually spend this month?
  • Debt-to-asset ratio — What share of what you own is really owed to someone else?
  • Projection — Where do your invested assets get to at a savings rate and a return?
  • One point of return — What does one percentage point of return do over the years?
  • Months covered — How many months of expenses could your liquid assets carry?
  • Change since last time — How much did net worth move between two snapshots, and why?
  • Home equity in or out — What is your net worth with the house counted, net of selling costs, and left out?

Every formula was checked

This pack contains 40 formulas. Before it was published, every one of them was recalculated by a spreadsheet engine and compared against an independent implementation of the same arithmetic written in Python. All 40 agreed to within a cent, and the workbook carries a Verification sheet saying so.

That is an unusual thing to be able to claim about a spreadsheet, and it is the main reason to buy this one rather than download a free template. A formula that looks right and is wrong is worse than no formula at all, because you will act on it.

What each calculator assumes

There is a sheet listing this, because a calculator that hides its assumptions is just a number generator:

  • Every asset is valued at what it would fetch today and every debt at its payoff balance today. Taxes owed on withdrawing retirement money or selling investments are not deducted.
  • Liquid means reachable within weeks without selling the home or a vehicle. Investment values can fall between now and the day you sell them.
  • Repayments come from new income. Asset values are held at today's figures.
  • A steady return every month, deposits at the end of each month, no fees and no taxes on the way. Real returns arrive unevenly and in some years are negative.
  • Both returns are steady and apply to the same deposits. The monthly saving row deposits at the end of each month, as the projection does.
  • Essential spending stays flat and no income arrives during the months counted.
  • Both snapshots value things the same way. Changing how you estimate the house between snapshots shows up as change.
  • Selling costs apply to the full value. Any capital gains tax on a sale is not included.

What this is not

Not financial, tax or legal advice, and not a recommendation to buy, sell, borrow or sign anything. These are calculators: they show what a choice costs, not which choice is right for you. Where a published rate or threshold is used it is the one current when the pack was built — those change, the arithmetic does not.

Honest about the format

One .xlsx workbook, 8 calculator sheets plus Start Here, Assumptions and Verification. Not a PDF, not a physical product, not a Notion template. Available immediately after purchase; nothing ships.
