The first in a two-part journey through one of the oldest, witchiest kinds of magic there is.

In this class, I begin with the properties of wool, the unspun wool of the underworld, and the ancient underworld deities who were thought to spin the fates of kings. From there, I transition to discussing fate, the holy and otherworldly beings associated with that force, and how those earlier conceptions of “fate” may relate to fiber magic. Then it's time to talk about seiðr and its relationship with spinning - about ensnaring and pulling, ritual and taboo. Finally, I cover fate-weaving valkyries, enchanted tools, and some of the ways you can practice weaving magic when you don’t have a loom.

Bundle includes:

  • Instructions for a Yuletide spinning rite.
