Ducks and Doughnuts
Annette has dealt with saucy salamanders, minor mythical monsters, divine dopplegangers, and depressed deities. None of that prepared her for the chaos pursuing her 14-year-old nephew.
When Don bangs on the door to request help with a summoning gone wrong, Annette braces herself for a demonic interloper or a parade of misplaced pixies. But when Don's please don't tell my dad morphs into questions about how to summon witch familiars, Annette breathes a sigh of relief. No invasion from a hell realm today. But instead of a helpful familiar, Don has shackled himself to a magically gifted duck with a flair for disappearing acts, a taste for doughnuts, and no intention of leaving.
Also, there are more ducks now.
A lot more ducks.
With a flock gathering at her wards and the fowl-instigated furor escalating, Annette has only one option: Send Don outside to apologize before the problem can grow tentacles.
