Sea Fan Cowl - PDF Knitting Pattern

Organic forms grow and recede, swirling around the circumference of this cowl.

A picot cast on and bind off adds interest and keeps the edges stretchy.

Instructions for the Sea Fan pattern are provided in written directions as well as a choice of two charts: a traditional brioche chart on a grid, and a StitchMaps chart, a more visual representation of the knitted fabric.

Yarn

Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply 

100% Superwash Merino Wool; 

400 yds/3.9 oz (365 m/110 g) skeins

1 skein in each of 2 colors, shown in Spring Green (light color) and Beanstalk (dark color)

Or approximately 250 yards/230 meters of fingering weight yarn in each of two colors - you will need slightly more of the light color than the dark color.

Circumference: 28/70 cm 

Height: 8/20 cm, adjustable

Needles

US 4 3.5 mm circular needle, 24/60 cm long, or size to obtain gauge

Gauge

Blocked: 25 stitches and 22 brioche rounds = 4/10 cm in brioche pattern.

Gauge is difficult to measure on this project because it is strongly biased.

Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect yardage and finished size if different from above.
