Swift Run Gap Mitts

The Shenandoah National Park, through which Skyline Drive snakes, is very close to my home in the mountains of Virginia. At all times of year we like to go up in the Park for quick hikes with the dog and kids. The twisting stitches at the wrist of these mitts remind me of the passes – gaps – through the mountains, and particularly of Swift Run Gap, which has wonderfully fractured rock faces and rivulets of water everywhere in the spring after it rains.

The small twist/cables in this pattern are defined for working without a cable needle.
