+++This is a measure and cut pattern which means that there are NO TEMPLATES to print off and match up- Yay! You need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat and you can cut the pattern pieces straight from the fabric. This is easier than it sounds because the pieces are all simple squares and rectangles.

All measurements are in INCHES.

When you buy this pattern, you have my permission to make this bag to sell- no mass production allowed of course but a few to sell at craft fairs or online, that sort of thing is fine. All I ask is that you credit me as the designer. I wish you all the success in the world with sales!

Imagine having a handy case which was sturdy but elegant. It would be useful as an old fashioned writing compendium if that was your thing or it could be a great sewing case. You could use it for makeup or even sketching materials.

Well that would be the Florence Zipper case! It has a sturdy and rigid cover, a secure zip and pockets inside to fit all of your needs. It is not a particularly difficult make and takes a small amount of fabric- a couple of Fat Quarters (plus a little extra for the lining) and you are well on the way.

Pattern Rating: intermediate sewists with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size: 10” tall, x 8” wide x 1” deep

Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics, linen, needle cord, tapestry fabric, jacquard

TIP: NEVER pass a curtain or furnishing remnant bin without having a rummage if you are a bag maker! Those fabrics are the perfect weight!

Gather these supplies:

Fabric:

FQ canvas for the exterior.

½ yd. lining fabric. Pure cotton is best and you will get the best results from it. You will have some left over from your half yard but the frustrating thing is that you need just a little more than a FQ. Well it feeds the stash.

FQ of a solid fabric to make the bias tape (optional). You can also use shop bought but bear in mind that the colour match may not be the best.

Fat Eighth mesh fabric to coordinate with your other colours

Interfacing:

FQ style-vil sew in foam interfacing (Vlieseline) or alternatively, By Annie’s Soft and Stable

FQ H630 fusible fleece (Vlieseline) or Bosal 326 LF

12” strip G740 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon 860F Ultra Weft

FQ S133 very firm fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon Peltex #72.

Everything Else:

27” heavy duty (#5) zipper. I am using a continuous zipper but if you choose a ‘normal’ one, that is no problem, just make sure that it is long enough and then cut the stopper off and re-sew across the end to make a new, less clunky one.

7” regular (#3) zipper for the zipper box pocket on the back

Something to decorate the zipper pulls. You can use leather or vegan leather, ribbon, great quality baker’s twine or a charm

Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims

TIP: Always coordinate all of your threads to fabrics. Sometimes this means a different colour thread in the top of the machine to the bobbin. It is a bit of extra work but well worth it in terms of style.

Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!Due to the nature of PDF patterns, I cannot offer refunds so please choose carefully. Thank you so much for your understanding.
