The stitch pattern on these mitts reminded me of a flower, and one of my very favorite flowers is the Matilija Poppy. It is a gigantic plant native to the Ventura County area, and its blooms are big, white flowers with a sunny yellow center. The flowers show up every year in June, just as the summer is starting, and their petals flutter in the breeze.
