Claude Code + Cursor Pack for Python Backends: Pro
CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md templates, 7 Cursor rules and 16 Claude Code skills that keep AI agents to one consistent way of writing Python backend code.
Most AI rule packs are written for Next.js and React. On a Python backend, Claude Code and Cursor tend to invent their own folder layouts, put SQL in route handlers, skip migrations, and sometimes "fix" a failing test by loosening the assertion.
This pack writes down one way of working and has the agent follow it: thin routers over a service layer, SQLAlchemy 2.0 style, Alembic migrations you review, test-first changes with pytest, ruff and type checks, and security rules that are always on.
It's all plain Markdown, so you can read and edit every file. Installing means copying a few folders into your repo, which takes a couple of minutes and never overwrites your files (`cp -n`).
It won't make the agent write perfect code. You'll get more consistent diffs that come with tests, but you still review them.
Goods Press makes and sells this pack.
WHAT'S IN PRO
Everything in Standard, plus:
- A reference FastAPI service (SQLAlchemy 2.0, Alembic, Pydantic v2) that the rules and skills were written against. Its 11 pytest tests pass, it's ruff-clean, and the migration round trip has been checked. The pack is already installed in it, so you can try every skill somewhere safe.
- Django/DRF variants: a Django `CLAUDE.md` and `AGENTS.md`, a DRF rule, and 5 Django skills (endpoint with tests, migration, model, Celery task, permission)
- A GitHub Actions workflow: ruff, an Alembic up/down/up round trip, and pytest on Python 3.11–3.13
- `HOW-TO-CUSTOMIZE.md`: how to adapt globs, frontmatter, skill triggers and house style to your repo
- License: 1 developer, or 1 team within one organization
REQUIREMENTS
- Claude Code and/or Cursor. `AGENTS.md` also works with other agents that read it.
- A Python backend project. The files assume FastAPI or Django, SQLAlchemy/Alembic or the Django ORM, and pytest. Delete the rules that don't fit.
- Pro reference app: Python 3.11+
FORMAT NOTE
The files use the current Claude Code skills format and the Cursor `.mdc` rules format (description / globs / alwaysApply). We checked both against the official docs in October 2026. The older `.claude/commands/` folder also works, and the guide explains how to convert.
FAQ
Will it work with my existing repo? Yes. Fill in the `<PLACEHOLDER>`s in CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md, then change the globs if your folders aren't `app/api`, `app/models` and `tests/`.
Claude Code, Cursor, or both? Both. `.claude/` and CLAUDE.md are for Claude Code, `.cursor/rules` is for Cursor, and AGENTS.md is read by Cursor and most other agents.
I only use Django. Standard includes a Django rule. Pro adds full Django/DRF variants and 5 Django skills.
Can my team share it? Commit the files to your repo. A team needs the Pro license.
Updates? When we post a new version, re-download it from your Payhip library.
