Yarn: Fingering weight in two colors, approximately 175 yds./162 m of the main color and 70 yds./64 m of the contrast color

Needles: US 1 (2.25 mm) and US 2 (2.75 mm), or sizes needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 34 stitches and 40 rounds = 4 in./10 cm in stranded colorwork pattern on larger needles

Finished Dimensions: 20 in./51 cm in circumference and 6.5 in./16.5 cm long

This stranded colorwork cowl features a repeating geometric pattern framed by hemmed edges. It begins with a provisional cast on and ends with grafting live stitches to the knit fabric. A photo tutorial is included in the pattern for the latter.

To knit this pattern, you need to know how to:
- do and undo a provisional cast on and
- read and work from a colorwork chart.

This cowl will use less than 50 g each of the two colors used, and a light fingering weight yarn is recommended. A yarn that is intended for use in stranded colorwork may work best, as a true sock yarn may be too dense; choose yarns that will give your knit fabric enough drape.
