Mothers are nutritionally depleted on average 7-10 years after giving birth.

I see many Mothers deficient in Iron in my practice (regardless of being on supplementation for extended periods) – so I have included an extended guide to optimising iron absorption.

It outlines not only the best, most bioavailable iron sources – but also ways to increase absorption and prevent malabsorption by avoiding common pitfalls.

I provide a list of other essential vitamins and minerals for iron synthesis and recycling – with the best whole-food sources.

Plus a cooking recipe hack that anyone dealing with a deficiency should know about!

About Minerals

Minerals are considered the 'Spark Plugs' for our stress response, digestion, energy, metabolism and hormonal health.

The mineral status of the body is a core driver of health and resilience.

When minerals are deficient or imbalanced, the body struggles to adapt and regulate, even with a high quality diet.

Minerals act as cofactors for thousands of enzymes involved in metabolism, detoxification, and cellular repair.

Vitamins rely on minerals to become biologically active, which means mineral imbalance can limit the benefits of supplementation.

Hormone health is highly dependent on mineral balance.

Zinc and Selenium support thyroid hormone production and conversion, while Magnesium and Calcium influence insulin signalling and reproductive hormones.

Sodium and Potassium are essential for adrenal function and fluid balance. When these minerals are disrupted, hormonal messages may not be properly received at the cellular level.

The stress response is closely linked to mineral status.

Ongoing stress depletes Magnesium, Sodium, and Potassium, weakening nervous system regulation and adrenal resilience.

Restoring mineral balance supports a more stable stress response and improved energy.

Digestion and metabolism also rely on minerals.

Zinc supports stomach acid production, while Magnesium and Chromium regulate blood sugar and energy production.

Optimising mineral balance creates a strong foundation for long term health and adaptability.

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Simona - a fully accredited and qualified Naturopathic Health and Nutrition Coach (Dip_CNM).

After the birth of my son during the pandemic, I struggled with chronic digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, frequent infections & pelvic pain.

I was diagnosed with an iron deficiency, under active thyroid, prolapse and soon discovered I had an autoimmune condition.

When I began to make nutritional and lifestyle changes - some of which I share in this guide,

I reversed every single symptom I was experiencing and no longer required medication.

I retrained in Naturopathy and went on to support my family and in time, my clients - through my private coaching practice. (www.motherwellcoaching.com).

Note: Mineral testing is available through my packages.

This will reflect longer term cellular mineral patterns, often revealing imbalances that are not apparent in blood tests.

This is beneficial for those who have been diagnosed with an iron (ferritin) deficiency.
