DaM Good Business® Simple Business Budget

A done-for-you annual budget spreadsheet for UK sole traders — open it, fill in your numbers, and see the shape of your year for the first time.

You know you should be budgeting. You've probably meant to sort it for a while.

The problem isn't motivation. It's that every template you've found is either built for a corporate finance team, or so basic it tells you nothing useful. So the blank spreadsheet sits there. And you keep running your business on bank-account hope.

This is the alternative.

The DaM Good Business® Simple Business Budget is a done-for-you annual budget spreadsheet designed specifically for UK sole traders and small business owners. No accounting background needed. No setup faff. Just open it, fill in your numbers, and see the shape of your year.

What's inside

Three sheets, each doing one job well.

Sheet 1 — Annual Budget A full twelve-month budget with columns for every month and rows for your income streams, regular expenses, ad hoc costs, tax provision, and buffer. The projected profit/loss calculates automatically. A Surplus/Deficit indicator tells you at a glance which months are looking tight — before they arrive. You can set your financial year start month (April is the default for UK sole traders, but it works for any start date).

Sheet 2 — Trend Overview Select any period — a quarter, a growth phase, a slow season — and see your average income, average expenses, and average profit/loss for that window. Plus full-year highs and lows across revenue, expenses, and profit, with the month name attached. The patterns that are invisible when you're looking at one month at a time become obvious here.

Sheet 3 — Revenue Per Client Select a month, enter your number of clients, and get your average revenue per client. A simple number that tells you a lot about your pricing.

A few things worth knowing

Tax provision and buffer are built-in budget lines, not afterthoughts. The spreadsheet assumes you'll set money aside for both — because you should be, every month, not in a panic at year end.

Rough estimates are fine to start with. A budget built on approximate numbers is still more useful than no budget at all. You can refine it as the year goes on.

This is a planning tool, not accounting software. It doesn't connect to your bank, replace your bookkeeping, or constitute financial advice. It's a forward-looking budget — which is exactly what it says on the tin.

Works in Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice. £ GBP throughout.

Once you can see the shape of your year, you can make decisions. Until then, you're guessing.

£7. Yours to keep and reuse every year.

The natural next step after building your budget is understanding what your business actually needs to generate — for your costs, your tax, and your life. That's what the Enough Number Mini Course covers. You can find it here: https://payhip.com/b/Eh4Y1
