Continuing Education Course: Evaluating for ADHD in Clients with Complex History and Symptoms (3 CEs)
Approximately 80% of people with ADHD have at least one additional diagnosis, and many have histories that are complex and make it more challenging to determine an accurate diagnosis. This high prevalence of complexity means it is impossible to provide ADHD evaluations without the skills and understanding to diagnose when clients present with complex symptoms and history. Providers who assess for ADHD must be prepared to differentiate symptoms and accurately diagnose our clients.
Trauma, mood disorders, autism, anxiety, learning disorders, head injuries, and a myriad of other diagnoses occur at a higher rate in those with ADHD compared to those without. And yet, much of the training in assessing for ADHD focuses on how symptoms present when no co-occurring conditions are present. If you provide ADHD evaluations, it is essential that you have the knowledge and skills to assess complex presentations.
This course gives you the knowledge of ADHD and co-occurring conditions, as well as vignettes to allow you to expand and practice your assessment skills. This self-paced home study provides you with three continuing education hours.
