The Miromiro Sweater is a seamless top-down sweater worked in a light (sport /5-ply or bulky 4-Ply) weight yarn, with cable details along the sleeves and back. It has a classic fit with a touch of ease for comfort, set in sleeves and a crew neck.

It is written in seven sizes, from 71 cm to 137 cm busts (28 to 54 inches).

The sweater begins with the cable panel across the upper back and shoulders, which is worked in two halves from the centre back towards each shoulder. Stitches are then picked up along the long edges of this panel to form the upper back and the two upper fronts, with Japanese short rows used to shape the shoulders.

Once the upper front and back sections are complete, they are joined at the underarms, and the body is worked in the round to the hem.

Sleeve stitches are then picked up around each armhole, incorporating the held cable-panel stitches at the top of the sleeve, and the sleeve cap is shaped using short rows before the sleeve is worked in the round to the cuff.

The neckband is picked up and worked last, then folded to the inside for a neat finish.

This unusual construction creates the continuous cable detail across the back and down the sleeves, while keeping the sweater seamless throughout. As the seamless construction relies on short rows, we have assigned it an intermediate to advanced skill level. Japanese (marker) short rows are recommended but other short row methods can be substituted.

It is named for the chubby little Miromiro (Tomtit) birds I love to see while out walking.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
