EDUCATIONAL PLANNING IN KENYA

Educational planning is the most fundamental activity in designing and managing an education system that meets a country's societal goals. It involves the systematic allocation of scarce resources—deciding how best to distribute them among levels of education (pre-primary, primary, secondary, TVET, university), across 47 counties, and among competing priorities such as teacher recruitment, infrastructure, learning materials, and quality assurance. It also involves forecasting future enrolment, designing curricula that respond to labour market needs, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting equity for marginalized groups.
