Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit
Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit
60 pages of practical tools to help pastors see the whole ministry, establish priorities, develop leaders, delegate responsibility, and keep important work from falling through the cracks.
Ministry is more than preparing sermons and planning Sunday services. Pastors are constantly balancing people, ministries, workers, projects, facilities, decisions, problems, opportunities, and responsibilities—often all at the same time.
The Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit was created to help pastors step out of the week-to-week routine long enough to see the church from a bird’s-eye view.
Rather than simply giving you another to-do list, this toolkit helps you ask bigger leadership questions:
Where are we right now? What is healthy? What needs attention? What should our priorities be? Who should be responsible? What needs to change? What are we waiting on? And what must not be forgotten?
A Complete Ministry Leadership System
The toolkit is organized into eight practical sections covering the major areas of church leadership and administration:
- Ministry Vision & Direction — Evaluate the current ministry, identify priorities, establish goals, and turn larger goals into focused 90-day plans.
- Annual Church Planning — Look at the entire ministry year, coordinate calendars and responsibilities, and establish rhythms for reviewing progress.
- Ministry Health & Evaluation — Evaluate individual ministries, identify needs and opportunities, solve problems, and determine what should be started, strengthened, changed, or stopped.
- Leadership & Delegation — Clarify responsibility, identify leadership gaps, delegate effectively, recognize potential leaders, and intentionally develop people for greater responsibility.
- Workers & Volunteers — Evaluate worker needs, place people where they can serve effectively, plan training, and intentionally care for and appreciate those who serve.
- Ministry Projects & Initiatives — Take larger ministry efforts from idea to completion with clear outcomes, responsibilities, milestones, decisions, and post-project evaluation.
- Church Operations & Administration — Keep facilities, policies, communication, financial needs, recurring responsibilities, and administrative loose ends visible.
- The Pastor’s Leadership Dashboard — Step back monthly, quarterly, and annually to identify the people, ministries, projects, problems, delegated responsibilities, and leadership priorities that most need your attention.
How Is This Different From Other MinistryForge Resources?
Many MinistryForge resources are intentionally smaller and highly focused.
A Mini Tool might help you conduct a membership interview, follow up with a church guest, prepare for a pastoral visit, organize a ministry meeting, or document an important church decision. Those tools are designed to help you handle one particular ministry responsibility well.
The Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit is different.
This is a 60-page comprehensive leadership resource designed to help you oversee the ministry as a whole.
It also serves a different purpose from The Pastor’s Ministry Planner & Resource Pack. The weekly planner helps answer:
“What do I need to handle this week?”
The Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit helps answer:
“Where does my leadership attention need to be directed?”
One helps manage the pastor’s week. This toolkit helps manage the larger leadership picture of the church.
Built to Be Used Again and Again
This is not a workbook you complete once and put on a shelf.
Most pages are intentionally reusable. Print additional copies whenever you need them for another ministry, worker, leader, project, planning cycle, month, quarter, or year.
You can also have the pastor, staff members, or key ministry leaders complete evaluation and planning pages independently, then compare their responses. Different perspectives can reveal strengths, concerns, blind spots, and priorities that may never surface when everyone works through the questions together.
Use the toolkit on paper or take it completely digital. It can be especially useful on an iPad, where you can import the PDF into a compatible annotation app such as GoodNotes. Write directly on the worksheets with an Apple Pencil or stylus, erase and revise notes, duplicate fresh copies of reusable pages, and keep your church planning and leadership tools together in one convenient digital location.
Created for Real Church Ministry
The goal is not to add more paperwork to ministry.
The goal is to help you see clearly, decide deliberately, delegate appropriately, follow through faithfully, and keep important ministry responsibilities from living only in your head.
Whether you use the entire system during annual planning or pull out individual pages throughout the year, the Church Administration & Leadership Toolkit is designed to become a practical resource you return to again and again.
