About

Hello! My name is Ash, and I've been a teacher for 13 years. I've run a social media page for teachers (@mrcurmisclassroom) for several years now which has opened up many doors in my career including presenting the topic of classroom management at the National Education Summit ('24 and '25).

I've also mentored pre-service teachers/PTTs and been a voice for behaviour at the schools I have worked in. Through my online presence, I strive to share authentic and practical evidence based ideas and strategies that help teachers foster and maintain a calm, positive and successful classroom.

The course

In this course (5 full video lessons) we aren't covering separate teaching strategies. We are covering 1 framework through 5 connected lessons, delving beyond the surface and uncovering the foundations that influence every interaction, routine and behaviour in the classroom.

Classroom management is about much more than just relationships and reward systems. Ever heard or seen the iceberg metaphor - beneath the surface? Above the surface you see visible strategies: sticker charts, parallel praise, 2:1 positives, social stories, quick rewards...they all work. Even I use them religiously. But...

...beneath the surface are the less visible elements that truly take your management to the next level. Understanding needs, structure, class consistency, self reflection, lesson dynamic, modelling demeanour, high standards, teacher conferencing, following up...these are the foundations that support everything above the surface.

The challenge is that many teachers naturally focus on the visible strategies because they're easy to see and search for. They are quick 60 second reels that look appetising and work...temporarily. Yet it's the work beneath the surface that often makes the greatest difference. When these underlying elements are in place, the strategies above the surface become far more effective, creating a classroom that is calm, consistent, and built for success.
