Maddala Shawl has a traditional triangular construction worked from neck down with increases along the sides and the center featuring stranded colourwork panels and picot edge bind-off. The colourwork is knit on right as well as on wrong side of the project.

Maddala Shawl has been inspired by the Latvian stranded knitting tradition I grew up with and the passage of the Sun throughout the seasons in Latvian folklore. It is sort of a homecoming to me - to return to the familiar, that was too heavy to lift and had been left dormant for too long. I’ve been dreaming of knitting this shawl for years, but it took some time to find the perfect yarn for it.

Important Note: pattern requires skills to work from both - written instructions as well as colour charts.

SKILLS INCLUDED
Knitting stranded colourwork on right and wrong side of the project, keeping colourwork tension even across large sections, picot bind-off.
