Aviarium: From Avis (bird) and Arium (a place for)…. Everywhere I went, I was seeing birdcages! The garden center was selling them for placing your own plants in; the supermarket had them prefilled with moss and succulents. Every home décor catalog I saw had one! I wanted one, too, but as I lack the ability to keep many plants alive, I decided to knit my own birdcage filled with flowers and vines. This top- down shawl combines the two shawl shapes I love most: top-down wedge with some half-pi shaping and flows from one to the other, ending with an applied border.
