The Parts Project: The Volcano A parts-based anger and emotional regulation toolkit for children ages 7–11
Some children move from okay to overwhelmed so quickly that there seems to be no space between the first feeling and the eruption. Afterward, they may feel embarrassed, confused or convinced they are simply "bad at anger."
The Parts Project: The Volcano gives therapists and caregivers a child-friendly way to understand escalation without excusing unsafe behaviour. The Volcano is presented as a protective part that may show up when something feels unfair, embarrassing, threatening, overwhelming or out of control.
Children learn to notice the early rumble, identify what The Volcano is trying to stop, fix, protect or make happen, find support that fits their body and practise repair after the storm. The Steady Part helps them pause, ask for help, try again and make things right when their body is ready.
This ready-to-use resource combines visual worksheets, concrete parent scripts, a Volcano scale, body-clue activities, coping supports, home and school scenarios, younger and older reflection pages, a one-page plan and repair practice. Separate child, parent and therapist files make it easy to choose only the pages that fit the clinical moment.
