The Leaf Exercise: Letting Go of Unhelpful Thoughts
You are not your thoughts. Use the leaf exercise to help create distance between you, and the thought you're having. Practice drawing awareness to unhelpful thoughts you're having, and pose the question for yourself what am I willing to let go of when I send this unhelpful thought down a metaphorical river or stream. This is a powerful CBT tool, and can help reinforce thought replacement as you work to identify where unhelpful thoughts may be getting in your way.
