FRIENDS companions, amigos, buddy's, mate's! Growing food can bring people together. Sharing the food you have grown with someone else is a wonderful thing and that is what we want you to do. The pea seedlings will provide much excitement and wonder as they start to grow with the love and care given by the children. The seedlings will create conversations about food, water, weather and nature. The outdoor friendship garden will develop over time. It teaches children about patience, builds resilience and offers sustainable methods of living. WEATHER to help create lessons in observation we have provided a rainfall gauge and placed it in your garden bed. This is a great opportunity to measure rainfall and look at the seasonal changes through out the lifetime of the friendship garden. PEAS are the seed inside a pea pod! You can eat the pod as well as the seeds. Maybe you can count the seeds inside each pod? Did you also know you can eat the young leaves, tendrils and flowers of a pea plant? What is a tendril? it's the long, skinny, curly, twirly bit that grabs hold of something to support the pea vine. FRIENDS because food plants like to have friends in the garden will have provided your friendship garden with a variety of different food plants that will help them to grow and deter unwanted pests.
